Baby Reese and her parents came to join me in the studio in Westchester, IL. about a month ago. Reese was an amazing baby! Her mom came in with this beautiful headband set from Linny Lou props and then at the end of the session, the mom gifted the whole set! SOOO SWEET! I couldn't believe it!!

And now every time I use one of those headbands the mom gifted me, I think about their generosity and I pray for their little Reese.

Boy Does this baby photographer have some new ideas!

Okay okay, I'll calm down;) Babies are born all year round so it keeps me busy. And I love it. Obviously. The newborns keep coming into my studio, which allows me to try out all sorts of amazing new things! Life as a baby photographer couldn't be better.

New Backdrops for Newborns!

Okay, maybe there is a little news...Not really news worthy though. I am starting plans to build a new backdrop for the studio. My husband and I have talked about creating a second backdrop that's made of white planks. It's important for me to have a variety of looks, but not too diverse.

Backdrops are constantly changing but my newborn style is the same.

I want people to see my work and know it was from me. So I don't want a bunch of different backdrops, but I do want a couple of different looks for the studio. So we are hoping to buy older planks to paint white. So excited about it! We just need to find a lumber yard to buy old barn wood from and then paint it. And that's it!

The other thing I want to start working on, is another package available for clients to purchase for newborn sessions. I love the idea of B&W pictures. I will start a full portfolio on newborn photos before I add this to the list of packages. Very excited about this as well.

Neutral Newborn Poses Anybody?

One more thing thats on the back burner to all of above... I want to start two more different packages...One that's a more natural posed newborn session, where I lay the newborn down on a neutral blanket and then I let the newborns almost pose themselves in their cute little natural ways. And the other is a travel session, where I do more of a lifestyle newborn scene with the newborn in their own PJs or onesie...and photograph them in their nursery. I love both of these looks and I want to start incorporating them into my sessions.

I have a lot to think about.

This amazing session just made me remember why I still take pregnancy pictures seriously! The romantic maternity sessions are always my favorite. We took these photos at Mayslake Estate in Oak Brook, IL. It's all about knowing the timing and what areas look best during that week. Here's how I met this little one for the first time, as a bump while capturing pregnancy pictures!

Finally the newborn session!

Its unreal how adorable this little baby is. Her name is Alice and she was super sleepy. She was 10 lbs at birth!

I keep forgetting to mention that, she was nice and squishy and such a fun newborn to photograph. Mom and Dad also jumped into some pictures at the end of the session (They did the family add on package for $175.00) The family photos include 20 images in color and B&W. I shared a couple of the B&W ones. And then at the end of the blog post, there is also a collage of a couple of pictures from the maternity session we did a couple of months back! Maternity sessions are done around 32-36 weeks or at least that is what I recommend.

Black and white Photos:

If there's one thing that I love to play with in the editing software, it's the black and white photos! There's something really yummy about how contrast can make you feel an emotion! I just love how this mommy and little girl look in the black and white photos, so I had to share. I should've posted some of the black and whites from the pregnancy pictures, but I haven't uploaded them.

I used a solid color paper for the backdrop in this photo. It worked amazing, and didn't require any additional steps to capture. I just roll it down and it's ready to go!

Pregnancy pictures in the Chicagoland Area

I've been in love with photographing babies, but it's also one of my favorite things: beautiful romantic pregnancy pictures! You can see how much I love photographing them in my maternity gallery! 

Absolutely in love with neutrals. This whole session was beautiful. I mean, how timeless and classic will these photos look years from now? They still have a girly vibe and definitely have my style and look about them as photography goes, but the baby just looks so sweet in them all :)

Let me tell you how sweet this baby girl was for her newborn session!

Oh my word! When this baby girl was born, she fractured her clavicle which is the bone nearest to her shoulder. Mom said she would be fine for the newborn photos though, just not to bring her left arm above her head.

This made me so very cautious throughout the session. And during her bucket pose, you can see she only has her right hand supporting her head (which is fine, she balanced well). She didn't want me to bring her hand up with the right one.

I love that there is a little story just for her in those photos. I am also glad I was able to work with this newborn because of her fractured clavicle. I now have experience so just in case it happens again, I am aware and knowledgeable!
