So you have heard me say this after every sunset maternity photoshoot, but I have the best job ever!

Yes, I know you have heard me say that in person during either a session or you have read it somewhere in my blog. I really do have the best job. During this maternity session specifically I met the most wonderful couple. Now I KNOW I have said that before...but its always true! Maybe I am just blessed with the most wonderful clients. I consider myself very lucky. But this session in particular was a real treat. If you look past the way the couple is impeccably dressed or the fact that they are both glowing and it makes me want to cry to see how happy they look.

The secret in these maternity photos are:

If you look past that, you see a couple that is awaiting twins. (yes twins!) and if you are me, you still hear their sweet conversations with one another during the session. And if you are me you listen to them and hear their life story (I ask a lot of questions during maternity sessions, sorry! :)...) You realize that this maternity session is just a glimpse into their sweet lives. That because of these pictures you get to freeze time. I get to make time stand still. I create lasting memories for families to look back on and remember "aww remember when you were pregnant with the twins? When life was calm and we were just waiting for them to arrive??" At least this is what I'll be thinking after my own maternity photoshoot;)

Maternity photography is a beautiful way to celebrate an amazing time in your life.

But it's special for me as well, I see your life in just a glimpse of what's really happening. I was in your life for such a small hour but it means more to me than you know. I study your warm smile and the way you and your husband look at one another. I see how much love their is between you both and it makes me happy. So thank you for just a glimpse, just that one hour of your life warmed my soul.

So much love for this beautiful Newborn Boy

I have this obsession with newborns...They are so warm and snuggly and their arms and legs are sometimes chubby and soft. I love to hold each newborn close and pat them on their backs while they fall asleep in my arms, and this newborn boy was no exception!

I love my job:

I have so much love for my job and for my clients. I love being able to watch new mom and dads with their new babies, they are always too fun to watch. And I honestly love taking a peak and mom and dads reaction as I am photographing their newborn boy.

I can sometimes glance back at them and see them tearing up. I sometimes don't even have to look to know because I will hear the faintest little sniffle and I know its just so much love. It's so much love to see and watch. It's the ultimate joy to have a newborn baby in the family. It's so much love for each family member to obtain a new title of "Aunt" or "Uncle" or for the first time "grandma". It's the same for me in a tinier spectrum as I am titled the newborn photographer. For that one day, I am the newborn photographer for this little ones life. I get to hold that newborn as if it's my own little niece of nephew. I pat their little backs and shush them back to sleep with so much love. Since I don't have any babies of my own, just for one day, I am honored to be titled their newborn photographer. So to anyone that has worked with me in the past or who will work with me in the future.

Three | Chicago Children Photographer

Anyone else having a crazy summer like me? Im sure everyone is. My summer consists of weddings, moving, summer sessions in the summer heat, sweet newborns, my puppy kodak and lots of editing nights.

This session below was done with the cutest of littles and their sweet smiles. These twins just turned three. We ran around, we screamed, we shared eskimo kisses and then took a quick dip at the beach. This is what summer should be all about.

When I have such a crazy busy summer, what helps is having these types of fun moments to cherish and look back on. I find it so funny that as busy as I am with sessions, I don't realize how often I get to do fun things even though its at work. I go to the beach often, I go to Navy Pier and Millennium Park, I go to Lincoln Park Zoo about 3 times a week, ha! And the best part is being able to catch up on my clients lives and hear about what is going on for them. I also love getting to watch my little clients play and run and have a great time enjoying the session. I love being able to walk away from a session and know it was a positive experience. And it shows when you look back at the photos and there are nothing but smiles and cheeky faces.

The Changing Seasons | Chicago Maternity Photographer

I have contemplated moving more than ever this past year. My husband and I have been traveling back and forth to California often in the last couple of months and we have been more and more excited about planning a move or rather, dreaming of planning a move to the L.A. area. California offers so many beautiful landscapes, beautiful weather all year round and its a bigger city than Chicago. But Chicago offers things as well, and there are different reasons to stay here instead of moving. Chicago has a huge city of which I already have a good clientele basis from (Chicago, you have been good to me!) Chicago has a beautiful city skyline, which in my opinion is the best looking skyline in the United States. For those people reading this and thinking of another skyline thats better... come on, you are dreaming! Chicago also has beautiful changing seasons. Every three months my city has different weather and colored leaves. My year is ever changing and it keeps us photographers not only on our toes but keeps us intrigued. It also keeps us in business believe it or not. If I lived in L.A. I would not see as frequent of people wanting sessions multiple times in a year because not enough things are changing. L.A. is also crazy with traffic! But thats a whole other topic :) Now I know California has beautiful flowering fields and mountains and cliff sides, I know this and I am crazy with envy. If only I grew up in California, not only for my love of photography but also my love for hiking and being out in nature. I could sit and stare for hours at mountains.

The point I am trying to make but failing to do so, is that Chicago is a wonderful city and has a lot to offer for us photographers. Sometimes it doesn't seem like it, because of all of these darn corn fields we have in Illinois, but we make do with creeks, forest preserves, tall grassy fields and random wild flower fields (though they sometimes seem sparse)

So we don't have mountains, big deal.. (no really though, can we do something about that?) We in the midwest have the most gorgeous of fall and spring seasons. Summer always catches me off guard by the wild flowers and I always fall back in love with the sheer simplicity of all things green in the summer. And then there is the dreaded winter that, I guess people don't realize, can be the most enchanting of photos when done the right way.
