Abigail Joyce Photography
Two years ago I decided what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I have photographed weddings, engagement sessions, family sessions, children sessions, babies, food, animals...but nothing made my heart pitter patter like photographing a 5 day old newborn. Genesis was my first newborn session and have been in love with newborn photography ever since.
How fitting. The first newborn I photographed was the root, the beginning, the start of my career and her name just happens to define that.
I have poured my heart into newborn photography. I have committed my time to researching newborns, and researching newborn photography.
I am so excited to keep pursuing newborn photography and I can't wait to see where this career takes me

My oh my....How can people go through this whole entire season and not claim fall as their favorite? Im not even talking about Pumpkin Spice Lattes, football season, sweater weather or chilly afternoons spent inside...(even those all of those are what makes fall even more special those that love it as much as I do.)
I guess as a photographer, fall has to be your favorite. Its the busiest time of year for me which puts a smile on my face.
The beautiful reds, yellows and oranges from the changing trees...The way the sun hits these beautiful leaves at the last hour of the day...The way God created this world, especially the fall season. What creativity! What a lovely idea from our Creator! He wanted to leaves to have a beautiful death. Its beautiful! Its wonderful!! Its MAGIC! I am in so much awe of my God and I want to share that with the people that read my little blog. I want to show everyone how truly amazing our world is, and the fact that God created it for us to love and be in awe over.

Have a wonderful fall day, friends.
I photographed this sweet baby when she was a newborn and now she is sitting up and she has the *best* smile. I love returning clients! Especially when they start off so little. There are so many amazing reasons I have about being a family/newborn photographer but the best thing about it is....I get to watch these babies grow. I get to see there changing personalities and I get to hear the sweetest laughs. I know what God purposed for me to be on this Earth. I was supposed to be baby photographer, but did you know that a photography business is HARD? Yup:)
I'm so happy about all the great people I meet. I love that my photography business is work out for me, and that I'm learning and growing. No, I'm not perfect, and I don't have the best tools or knowledge yet, but I know over time I will definitely grow, and I'm just so happy with the amazing people that are letting me photograph them! I am especially happy that I've started get photograph babies, but fall is still my favorite season for family photos!
Oh my word...My life is very hectic right now!
1. Plan a wedding! You would think that would be enough to totally flip a persons life upside down. I am a mess these days trying to figure out what vendors to choose from and what colors to have for the wedding. I am still in the beginning stage of the wedding planning. The last thing I want to become from all of this is the dreaded "Bridezilla". PS. I picked my wedding dress out! I said YES to the dress!
2. Finishing College. Whew, this is challenging. I am transferring my last year to Benedictine University and I am very excited to finalize this process. But its a long process. I need to make sure everything is in order!
3. Move into a photography studio! YAY! My dream is turning into a reality. I can't tell you anymore details on this subject because I don't want to give anyone any false information before everything is finalized but this is so very exciting for me.
4. Incorporating my photography business! Abigail Joyce Photography will become a professional and official business in 2014!
5. Planning the honeymoon! My wonderful Fiance and I decided to travel to Italy! This will be my very first time on a flight (so we might take a day trip somewhere close by before making this big trip) But oh man...Italy is just gorgeous and it will be the trip of lifetime with my best friend.
6. Running a successful photography business! I am completely booked for October and quickly filling up for November. I am SO blessed to have the clients that believe in me.

So, I photographed this family 10 months ago when the little Miss Emma was just 7 days old. I really wish this wasn't so surprising to me. She has grown so much! She waves to people, she has the biggest smile...and the prettiest blue eyes. She also says "Hi" softly. Gosh, I just love it. I love seeing my little clients grow up. As you can see, I have been photographing a LOT of family sessions. I enjoy them all. And the fall colors are just amazing. The closer we get into the fall season and the more the trees change, the more anxious I get. I know its slowly just beginning but I know in just a few short weeks, all of the leaves will be gone. I am so busy this next month in October. Each weekend is booked. I can't fill another session in if I wanted to. God has really heard each and everyone one of my prayers! I am beyond blessed and so happy for these opportunities.
My life is hectic, chaotic, crazy, messy. I am applying for a transfer for my last year of school (next year! Eek!) I am also getting married next August! GASP, the big reveal. Well it shouldn't be that big of a surprise. Once people get engaged, marriage follows. So, yes we are planning for August 2015. Thats a LOT of planning. TOO much in fact. It feels like all of these big decisions have been all thrown at me all at once. I guess the days of childhood are over, I feel like such an adult! Planning a wedding, a honeymoon, my last year of college...and possibly renting a photography studio next year. Its all too much I tell you :)
PS to anyone that wants to get me an early birthday gift (April 26, ok thats really early!) I would LOVE a spa day!!!!

Have you seen anything more beautiful? I simply love maternity photography if you can't tell already! I have learned so much about pregnancies just from photographing so many maternity sessions!
I honestly, can't wait to have my own kids. Well duh! I am baby photographer!
This session was photographed at the Garfield Park conservatory one morning in January I believe. No it wasn't beautiful outside, but the wonderful thing about maternity photography, is that if you find a good location (even indoors) you can make the most romantic gallery without trying!
I started early on in my photography career as a general portraiture. I photographed events, children's parties, you name it! But eventually I started to get a sense for what moved me, what made me feel, and eventually I knew that I would come to a fork in the road.
Fortunately, this wasn't an issue! In fact, I'm so glad I made the decision to focus my work on maternity portraits. Yes, I'm a newborn photographer, and yes the majority of my work comes from newborn sessions, and YES I absolutely love and adore newborn sessions, but there is an amazing romance to maternity photography that is hard to get elsewhere (except maybe weddings, but let's not go there yet;).
Every once in a while, I'll get the chance to photograph a maternity session that includes another sibling, and these can be amazing:) I know I use that alot about sessions, but the newness and bewilderment that a newborn brings to a sibling is an amazing experience to capture!
A lot of times they are confused and not really sure of how to react, and other times they are super excited and want one of their own. Here's a sweet photo of an expecting mom with her daughter, it just made my day! This was photographed in her home, and it turned out wonderfully! No need to go out to a seperate location, we made due with the beautiful window light and it turned out to be the best choice:)
