Let's talk fall and being a Chicago children photographer

Hey Friends, wow has it been a busy summer. From getting married, moving out of my childhood home, getting a husky puppy and running this fun photography business - it's been so busy! This fall, as a Chicago children photographer, I've got some amazing fall photo locations planned for the family and kiddos!

Everyone wants beautiful family and children photos in the fall season. I love booking with clients for the fall season, it's gorgeous! I'm also really excited about making some amazing children photographs using the colorful woods and forests nearby!

I have always loved fall, even before being a children's photographer. Even before it was a trend to like fall and all things pumpkin. I used to love getting up early on a Saturday morning and walking around uptown Western Springs in a chunky sweater, drinking a Pumpkin Spice Latte from Starbucks (before the changed the chemicals and caramel coloring into actual pumpkin) I loved the crisp morning air, and by that I mean being able to walk around and not get sweaty since the summer days were so hot!

Fall is perfect for children sessions

Fall in Chicago is one of the most beautiful places on earth for a children's photographer. This past week I have been thinking about the other places in the United States that have better fall seasons than Chicago. I mean, of course Michigan, Vermont, Wisconsin, and I'm sure tons of other states have beautiful fall colors. But you can't go wrong with fall in Chicago.

All of this was brought on by this past week I drove with my husband Ben down to Savannah Georgia to visit my sweet brother and sister-in-law who just a newborn baby girl. While driving 19 hours both ways....ugh....we stopped along the way to see the start of fall in the other states. The photo below was taken in the Great Smoky Mountains this past week.

So, as many of you know...I am getting married on August 16. Whether we have talked about it in person or you've read about it in previous blog posts....I just wanted to update friends :)

18 days left.

My heart is pounding so fast typing this. Im not sure why Im so nervous, maybe its the stress of it all?

I am so behind on the wedding plans right now. There are so many last minute things that need to get done.

And definitely those little details of the wedding as well. I cant wait for the wedding to pass, the real thing I want from all of this is to be married to my best friend and go back to my regular life <3

Ethan | Chicagoland Newborn Photographer

Wow, what a sweet little baby boy. Ethan did such a great job during his newborn session.

I love newborn sessions. I have said this very sentence about 10000000 times. It couldn't be more true ever time I say it.

I love trying new poses. This newborn session with Ethan was the first time I tried out the "hanging pose" which was so fun to try! I had both parents stand on either side of my bean bag and we so ever slightly raised Ethan up 2 or 3 inches from the beanbag and quickly took the photo of Ethan hanging.

I also really love incorporating siblings into photos, and the parents really wanted to recreate a specific photo I took about 6 months ago that they fell in love with. I hope one day we can recreate the exact same photo with Ethan sitting up on the little stool.

I also really love when I get to photograph newborns outside. There were a couple of times I met with clients to photograph the entire newborn session outside and though that does sound like fun, its a bit more complicated. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE taking newborn sessions outside!!! But the newborns have to constantly be under an umbrella since their skin is so sensitive, we don't want to expose the newborns too much to sunlight. Also we can't keep the weather consistent and can't control how hot or cold it gets outside. But if I get the chance to take newborns outside for 2 minutes, its soo much fun. And we were able to take Ethan outside for 2 minutes inside the basket. I was able to scout out their backyard before I took him outside :)

June Baby | Chicagoland Newborn Photographer

This was such a fun session <3 Trust me when I say, ALL of my newborn sessions are fun but Teresa (1o days old -newborn in the photos) was super sleepy and super sweet. She posed very well and styled the latest fashions ;) Teresa, is a 7 pound, 10 day old June Baby !! And I am so happy to have met her and snuggled her all afternoon today.

So, in other news... I am getting married in less than 2 months from now! And im very ill prepared. HA. Im really taking my sweet old time planning for this wedding. Ok, ok...I have ordered things, found all of the vendors and I have colors picked out. I also have my wedding gown, the flower girls dresses and my bridesmaids dresses. We still need to find suspenders and bowties for the guys...and I am sure there is more to be done! I just cant think of it on the top of my head while typing this :)

So please pray for me this summer, as its getting chaotic and stressful as all weddings are. I can't wait until my wedding day is come and gone so I can go back to my regular schedule and life as I know it will and should slow down...right?!

Haha, perhaps not.

Oliver's session

Another wonderful family session....although this one was different.

I photographed this baby boys newborn session 6 short months ago. A beautiful newborn session.

Oliver.

His name is Oliver and he is standing with support, sitting up, has the best smile and the biggest brown eyes and long lashes.

This is just what I notice as a photographer. When I notice these little things, I tend to use them in my favor. If a 6 month old can sit up and stand with support, we can get different photos for variety :)

When the baby has a wonderful smile and big brown eyes, you get close in and wait for those perfect moments.

Oliver is a sweet baby boy. I am so fortunate to photograph his for his first year. I get to meet with this family one more time this year for Oliver 's first year session close to the fall season.

Its a pretty sweet gig I tell ya :) I get to see this sweet little face in person throughout this year!
