Meet the Andersons! My family:)

I love it! Being a family photographer is an amazing job, especially when you get to photograph your family. I think being a suburbs family photographer has it's benefits too, especially when you're not too far from your own family. As a fun way to give them a fun gift while their in town, I'll bring them over for a quick photoshoot! This session was on my old hardwood stage, but I've updated it since then!

Suburbs family photographer on a mission! Meet the in-laws...

During the holiday season, my brother and sister in law were in town and I couldn't help but get them in front of the camera. After all I am the family photographer for my whole family. Anytime anyone is home for the holidays or just here for a little visit I try to get them in front of the camera. Anyways, they came over for an indoor studio session because hello its -5 degrees in Chicagoland area, lol. So they came over after a big day of enjoying the Navy Pier Winter Wonderland indoor park.

Family photos when they're exhausted though?

I wasn't sure how it would go, since it was last minute and I knew the kids would be exhausted from such a long

day. But they fell asleep in the car on our way home to the suburbs. I was so relieved when they woke up in good moods. Our session took only about 4o minutes and it was pure bliss. We got so many good smiles from the kids. My mom even requested prints asap from me haha. Now looking through these photos I realized how quick those two weeks went when they were in town and I'm so happy we took these photos when we did. Now we will have the photos for a lifetime. I could just squeeze them both!! I love having family around.

This cute session | Chicago Family Portraits

I blogged about this family a year ago, when baby girl was a newborn. I was so happy they came back for another Chicago family potraits session this past fall season. I love getting to watch my littlest clients grow! She was the sweetest and sleepiest newborn and now she's walking and standing and talking. She talks and laughs and loves her mom and dad. It's so sweet to watch this unfold in front of me. And check out those adorable outfits from this cute session! I mean, come on...I'm obsessed. I even asked the mom where she bought her dress from...PS. it's from Madewell if anyone else is wondering. I want to ask where the whole outfit is from for baby girl...

As a Chicago baby photographer, I'm so used to the crazy, the unknown, and the surprises. But the surprise of this 90 Degree weather is one that I can barely understand!!

What happens when it's 90 degrees on any given day? I am definitely still outside photographing sessions. I try to meet clients earlier in the day when we know it's going to be really hot out though. This session specifically was on a 90 degree day in the fall. We met early at 830 am to ensure some cooler temps during our session. It worked well! There may have even been a slight breeze.

Fall Family Photography Kick-Off!

If this is the beginning of my fall season, I have a feeling it's going to be wonderful! It finally got a little chillier this week, after what felt like a long week of 90 degree days. Now it's gone down to the 70s and it's awesome! So yay for fall family photography!!

Montrose Harbor in Chicago

We decided to take this session to the harbor, and believe it or not, there are some amazing photo locations that don't actually include the water!

Although there are boats and water around, about this time of year they pull them from the docks. Instead, the colorful grass and trees make up a fantastic backdrop during the fall season!

I just love the colors of this family session! I've met with this beautiful client and her family for several years, and each session gets better and better.

Inspired Fall Family Photography: The AJP look

Over the years, I've been trying to get that "perfect" look for my family photos, but can you believe it, it continually changes! I used to think this was a problem, but... maybe that's actually a bonus?

So I've discovered that every season brings a new kind of "look" to the editing that I do. In fall, I especially gravitate towards the oranges and rich contrast that makes me feel like I'm in fall, regardless of when I look back on the photos!

Another aspect of my look is that coveted Film look. Film is expensive and delicate, and I love the digital workflow, but trying to bring the two together is where I work the hardest. The soft bokeh background, and the fund contrast and mood was created as an homage to the amazing look and feel of film!

Much of what I do is in and around Chicago. I meet with amazing clients through the Chicago suburbs! I provide my family photography to the beautiful clients in Hinsdale, IL. I take them to many of the locations that Hinsdale provides, including the beautiful Katherine Legge Park!

Many of my clients come from Elmhurst, IL, since it's so close to my scenic locations! I will take them to lakes, forests, and parks that are absolutely gorgeous, and will get really good lighting during even the harshest times of the day.

I provide a select few locations in Evanston, IL and the surrounding areas. This includes beaches, parks, and providing in-home newborn and family photography sessions!

Because Spring is totally amazing!

Can you believe this session? I can't believe it's already spring in Chicago. Please please please let this prettiness stay...I heard it *might* snow sometime this week?? Gosh, I hope that was just a cruel April Fool's joke. I've decided I'm in love with being a spring family photographer!!

So, please, let it stay spring in Chicago. I wish I could photograph all of my clients here, but I am not sure the flowers last long at this spot. Don't you think the blue is just the most beautiful backdrop? Especially with those lovely yellow buds on the trees. Don't you want your family photos done here?

Family photography in Chicago brings surprises!

Every year, the colors and the scenery will change. Every year I don't know what to expect, and hope for the best. In this case, I was amazed at how beautiful and saturated the spring colors of this session were! This amazing family used me as their spring family photographer, which I'm sure they were happy with the amazing results:)

I knew coming in that I would be able to get some spring colors, and I remembered that the flowers were blooming these weeks, but every so often the weather and plants just like to play cruel jokes. This time, I arrived to find the most beautiful colors just popping out after the long winter melt.

Where did I photograph this spring family session?

I didn't want to give it away, but of course it's not a private location so here it is! I actually shot this at the Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago. This family met me near the gates where I led them to this patch of color that I knew was amazing, and even though it's not that big of an area, and only lasts for about 2 weeks through the spring bloom, we made it work. It had such amazing results too. It's just super hard to catch it before the bloom disappears!

Check out this amazing family's spring photoshoot! I think they did an amazing job coordinating their colors, and with the flowers. Or maybe that was just a coincidence;)
